Questions partners ask
What does a partnership actually look like?+
There isn't one template. Depending on your space, your audience, and what you're trying to do, it might be:
- An interactive kiosk showcasing children's work from your community
- Your own Partner Gallery
- A limited-edition product collection featuring artwork from your community
- Children's artwork in your gift shop
- A seasonal art challenge or campaign
Most partnerships combine a couple of these. We start with what you already have and what you're trying to achieve, not with a package.
This works anywhere children's creativity deserves an audience, so you don't need to be a museum. We partner with camps, art schools, after-school programs, schools, libraries, community centers, and companies running family or giving programs.
What does it cost us?+
It depends on the shape it takes, and we'd rather talk it through than quote a package.
For children's museums, the interactive kiosk is free. pixyit is a proud member and partner of the Association of Children's Museums, and ACM is our default donation partner, receiving 5% of orders. We cover the hardware, installation, and ongoing maintenance.
A Partner Gallery is $300 per year, per location, at our founding member rate.
Other formats vary. Some cost nothing at all. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll be straightforward about what it would involve.
What do you need from us?+
Less than you'd expect, and we'd rather work it out together than hand you a spec sheet.
It depends on the format. A kiosk needs space, power, and connectivity. A gallery or a product collection needs almost nothing physical at all. Every organization's constraints are different, so we start with what you actually have.
What we're really asking for is reach. You have the trust of families in your community, and that's the part we can't build on our own. So we take on everything else: the setup, the maintenance, the platform, and the production.
Once it's running, there's nothing for your team to manage day to day. If anything, small organizations tend to see the value fastest, because an earned revenue line that requires no labor is worth more when labor is your scarcest resource.
How does the revenue share work?+
Every sale splits three ways, calculated on the sale price.
- 10% to your organization. That covers Family Gallery subscriptions ($48 a year each) and product purchases generated through your community.
- 3% to the child who made the artwork. It's tied to the specific piece, so a child earns every time something featuring their work sells, not just once.
- 5% donated. The Association of Children's Museums is our default donation partner. The exception is special campaigns run with a specific organization, where the donation supports that cause instead. Our collection with Women in AI, for example, funds their education and mentorship programs.
A worked example: 250 families in your community starting a gallery generates $12,000 in annual revenue, of which $1,200 comes back to your organization and $600 goes to ACM.
We're happy to model this against your actual visitor numbers before you commit to anything, and for most partners it costs nothing to find out.
Who owns the artwork?+
The child does. Always. pixyit receives a non-exclusive license only to produce the products someone chooses to order.
On the practical side, every piece is linked to the email address that uploaded it. When a parent uploads their child's work, it stays with the family, full stop.
When your organization uploads artwork, the piece is linked to your account so you can display and manage it. A family can then claim their child's piece and move it into their own Family Gallery. Claims require your approval, so you stay in control of verifying that the right family is claiming the right child's work. Once claimed, the piece belongs to the family and any royalties follow it.
How do you protect children's privacy?+
Artwork is private by default. Nothing appears publicly unless a parent actively chooses to make it visible.
When a piece is made public, the only information shown is a display name, the artwork, its title, and its description. We encourage parents to use a nickname rather than a child's full name. No last names, no location, no school or organization identifiers, no contact information.
What if it doesn't work for us?+
Then we wind it down. No cost, no contract trapping you, no hard feelings. We'd genuinely rather learn why it didn't work than keep something running where it isn't wanted.
How do we start?+
A short conversation about your space and your community. If it fits, we handle the rest. Email: partners@pixyit.com
Let's create something meaningful together.
